Every summer, Arizona’s extreme heat creates dangerous and often life-threatening conditions—especially for individuals living in vulnerable housing situations. At Arizona’s Family to the Homeless (AZFH), we see firsthand how critical access to cooling resources can be.
Many of our clients live in mobile or manufactured homes, where indoor temperatures can quickly rise to unsafe levels without proper cooling systems. Aging infrastructure and limited resources often make it difficult to maintain safe living conditions during peak heat season.
A Partnership Making a Difference
AZFH is deeply grateful for our partnership with Midwest Food Bank – Gilbert, AZ, whose support has helped us expand our reach during this critical time.
Through their Amazon returns and overstock program, AZFH received:
- Mini air coolers
- RV refrigerators
These essential items have allowed us to directly assist clients living in high-risk environments, helping them stay cool and safe during extreme temperatures.
Expanding Relief Across the Community
Beyond individual support, AZFH is committed to strengthening our network of community care.
As part of our heat relief efforts, we also distributed fans to local community partners, including:
- A group home serving vulnerable residents
- A hydration station supporting individuals experiencing homelessness
By equipping these partner locations with cooling resources, we are able to extend relief beyond our direct outreach and ensure more individuals have access to safe, cooler environments during the hottest days.
Real Impact Where It’s Needed Most
Through these combined efforts, AZFH has been able to:
- Provide critical cooling solutions to individuals living in unsafe heat conditions
- Help families safely store food, water, and medications
- Support community partners in expanding their heat relief services
- Reduce the risk of heat-related illness and emergencies
This community-centered approach allows us to multiply our impact and reach those who might otherwise go without support.
