Finding Cooling Centers, Hydration Stations, and Support During Extreme Heat
Arizona’s extreme heat is a serious public health risk — especially for individuals experiencing homelessness, seniors, outdoor workers, and people without reliable access to air‑conditioning or transportation. As temperatures rise earlier and remain high for longer periods, knowing where to find heat‑relief resources can save lives.
Arizona’s Family to the Homeless (AZFH) shares the information below to help individuals, caregivers, and community members access accurate, up‑to‑date heat‑relief resources across Arizona.
Arizona Heat Relief Network
Cooling centers, hydration stations, and seasonal heat‑relief locations across Arizona are coordinated through the Arizona Heat Relief Network, a statewide program supported by the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG).
The Heat Relief Network works with counties, cities, nonprofits, faith organizations, and community partners to provide:
- Cooling centers
- Hydration stations
- Seasonal heat‑relief locations
- Public safety updates during extreme heat events
👉 Find current heat‑relief resources in your area:

Heat‑relief locations are updated seasonally and may change throughout the summer.
Interactive Heat Relief Map (Coming Soon)
An interactive statewide map of cooling centers and hydration stations is expected to be available through the Arizona Heat Relief Network later this spring. The interactive map will allow individuals, outreach teams, and community members to search for nearby heat‑relief locations as sites become available.
Until the map launches, the Heat Relief Network website above remains the most reliable source for current heat‑relief information.
How AZFH Supports Heat Relief
Arizona’s Family to the Homeless provides mobile, barrier‑free heat‑relief outreach, meeting people where they are — particularly those who cannot easily access fixed cooling centers.
Our heat‑relief outreach focuses on:
- Bottled water and low‑sugar or unflavored hydration
- Cooling towels and sun protection
- Heat‑safety education and prevention
- Transit tickets (when available) to help individuals reach cooling centers and other safe spaces
- Compassionate, dignity‑centered engagement
AZFH does not provide direct transportation. When available, we offer transit tickets and help connect individuals to trusted community resources that support safe travel during extreme heat.
Transportation to Cooling Centers
Transportation assistance to cooling centers and heat‑relief locations is available through community resources.
Individuals who need help reaching cooling centers can dial 2‑1‑1, Arizona’s statewide community information line.
2‑1‑1 can connect callers to:
- Transportation assistance
- Cooling centers and hydration stations
- Emergency and community support services available locally
